Caribbean - Conditions of Entry

The Caribbean islands essentially live (exception Trinidad ) on an income from the tourism. Nevertheless yet all islands did not understand that. Some islands make the stay to the tourists more difficult deliberately by unreasonable bureaucracy.

Typical example is the different treatment of the residence / entrance permit.

Intelligent island governments give in principle a residence permit of 6 months. So tourists have much time to spend their money on the island.

Other islands differentiate between an entry on a yacht and an entry by air. With the yacht one will get a residence permit of 6 months, by air of only 6 weeks. It seems not to be very smart to kick out airplane travelling tourists after 6 weeks from the island while they could spend their money ther for many months.

On the other hand: On most of the Caribbean islands extension of the residence permit is done easily, unbureaucratically and free of charge. From this point of view St. Lucia is particularly complicated and badly organized, no matter if you are coming in by private yacht or by air.
