Disintegrates in the Tropics after 1,5 - 2 years.

One the worst and most dangerous of all maritime products.

Opinions in summary:

Zodiac dinghies since 1991, even if they are used only few months per year and packed and stowed away in the ship in the meantime, they fall apart in the Tropics after not more than 2 years.

Zodiac dinghy - decay in detail:

6 months: first brownish discolorations
on that normally silver colored above hoses.

10 months: heavy brown discolorations above on the hoses of the Zodiac dinghy, material sticks and resolves themselves clearly, first brownish discolorations from down on the hoses.

12 Months: on the hoses of the Zodiac dinghy, heavy brown discolorations from down on the hoses, material sticks and resolves themselves completely heavy dark-brown discolorations above strongly completely clearly The sticking soft surface is removed with gasoline and acetone, the boat becomes bright, but clear material loss.

13 months: The attachment plates with the blue safety lines at both pages of the Zodiac dinghy drop the adhesive resolved themselves. Were after-stuck, however again dropped, since the material is destroyed by UV

15 months: The mounting for outboarder also with small engines around 2-4 HP, with large engines anyway, solve itself and moves back and forth. The adhesive and/or the material of the rubber bulges resolved themselves, were after-stuck, tear however immediately again up. Re glued with Sikkaflex, to some extent holds around lower area, but constant water entrance: The Zodiac dinghy falls apart.

16 months: The rubber soil solve itself from the rubber hoses One is located in the water and must hold on to the sticky rubber hoses, in order not to slip through downward in the water. The timber flooring with the Zodiac dinghy is fastened provisionally in such a way that one is not to fall through in the water. One after-sticks again and again, tears however immediately again up. Re glued with Sikkaflex, holds however only without load, thus if nobody enters the dinghy. Constant water entrance over back and rubber soil, the back side must be held with the hand, in order not to drop out.

16 months: The rubber bulges are perforated of the sun and the UV radiation and lose increasingly air. Every 3 hours after-pump, in the morning hang the Zodiac dinghy like a brown bag in the davits of the ship.

Afterwards one gives in and buys themselves somewhat reasonable, e.g. a Caribe, the best dinghy up in the Tropics, better still than AB. The Zodiac dinghy is after 1,5 to 2 years totally trash, just as the other hundreds of Zodiacs, which lie about in the Caribbean in each Marina and at many beaches as black-brown rags. Who drives around such a more than 1 dinghy year used still some months at deck and on the dinghy is dependent sometime, without question to try will have to achieve the bank swimming: The Zodiac resolved itself in the radiation.

Some had itself to let bring from friends ashore, in order to buy a new Caribe or AB and to then fetch it from the bank. Which a difference between these boats!

Admitted, the radiation in the Caribbean is hard. But the same occurs there in 1,5 to 2 years, which occurs in the Mediterranean in probably 5 or 6 years. In the Tropics products age quasi in the quick-motion apparatus.

In Venezuela 1996 a large Zodiac without outboard plate was lying at the beach: The engine mount plate had dropped out from the back in the open water as well as that 40 HP outborder and had disappeared, an absolutely serious emergency for the crew, which was already far driven off "on the way after Mexico".

Zodiac knows the lack of their dinghies and life rafts for years and undertakes nothing in order to warn their customers before a use in the Tropics. Zodiac leaves it because of its profit knowingly to the coincidence whether their customers drive into death or not. That is most criminal done by a company, which supplies NATO and airlines (with escape chutes, affords).
